Meeks Park

Article Title Here

Meeks Park is past Blue Ridge about 30 minutes. It is only a short distance before Blairsville. This is a beautiful park that is family friendly. Nottley River and Butternut Creek both run through the park. The park has a lot of baseball fields, a basketball court, a skateboard area, a pool, pavilions, grills, and several walking trails.

The main part of the park does not allow any dogs, but they have recently opened up a dog park across 515. The parks are joined with a .5 mile walking/jogging path. The dog park also has disc golf and is near the campus of North Georgia Technical College.

We go to this park to use the trails for our runs. The main area of Meeks park  has a 1.5 mile trail, and then you can run the trail joining to the dog park, and the dog park has a 1 mile trail at it. Combined these trails make up about 3.5 miles. We also run the road around the main fields near the pool for an additional mile.  The trails are asphalt in some areas, gravel in others and mulched in parts of the dog park. It is a beautiful park to run in as you enjoy the views of Nottley river and Butternut Creek.

On our latest visit we noticed some construction of bridges across Butternut creek and a sign stating 30 acres on that side of the creek had been purchased for the park as well. I look forward to seeing what Union County does with this area.

I tried to outline the areas of the park with the walking trails and where we run. The trail markings on my map are approximate.

Meeks park also has many events throughout the year, but we have not yet had the opportunity to visit during those times. The events are posted on their website.
